S. Korean elected as member of UN Human Rights Committee for first time

A South Korean, for the first time, has been elected as a member of the UN Human Rights Committee.
The Foreign Ministry said on Friday that Professor Soh Chang-rok from Korea University Graduate School of International Studies will serve on the 18-member committee for the next four years.
Soh received votes from 120 out of over 170 countries
As a committee member, he will help review countries’ performance and implementation of human rights laws.
