It’s still touch and go whether President Moon Jae-in will visit Japan this week for bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.
A senior Blue House official said Monday that consultations are ongoing but progress is proving slow.
The remarks come after Japanese media reported that President Moon will visit Tokyo for Friday’s opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics and hold a summit with Suga.
The Blue House official added that Japan has yet to take acceptable actions regarding an issue that has recently become an obstacle likely referring to inappropriate remarks about President Moon by a high-level Japanese diplomat based in Seoul.
