President Moon Jae-in will be holding a virtual summit this Wednesday with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
This summit, three years since the last one, comes at the request of the Dutch side as the two countries mark 60 years of diplomatic relations this year.
The leaders are expected to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation, especially in the chip sector and other future industries.

“The Netherlands is a powerhouse in semiconductor equipment, and coupled with South Korea’s strength in chip production, we look forward to mutually beneficial cooperation, including the stabilization of the supply chain.”

South Korea and the Netherlands upgraded their ties to a comprehensive future-oriented partnership in 2016.
Today, the Netherlands is South Korea’s second-largest trading partner within Europe and during the 1950-to-53 Korean War it sent five thousand troops to South Korea’s aid.
