President Moon Jae-in has called on the police to take action to stop the kind of financial speculation now being investigated at LH.
He was speaking Friday at a ceremony for the appointment of new police lieutenants and inspectors stressing that the case at LH will be the first test of the newly launched National Investigation Headquarters.

I ask you to put an end to the kind of speculation that is disrupting fairness in our society and corrupting the public sector. I also call for systematic cooperation with the prosecution and relevant institutions so that this becomes a chance to boost the country’s investigation capacity.

The President said that the LH case needs to be an opportunity to reform public institutions and to reinforce integrity in the public sector.
Moon added that he hopes the new investigative headquarters will help create a system of responsible investigation based on the principles of checks and balances and political neutrality.
