South Korea’s presidential office has revealed that deputy security advisor Kim Hyun-chong made a visit to the U.S. earlier this month to discuss pending bilateral issues and regional affairs.
It said Sunday that Kim was there from September 16th to the 20th to meet with officials from the White House, the State Department and think tanks.
Seoul and Washington, it said, reaffirmed their bilateral alliance ahead of the U.S. presidential elections in November and exchanged views on North Korea issues.
It did not reveal details of what exactly was discussed.
But also noteworthy is that the visit took place just days before President Moon Jae-in’s UN address in which, he called for a declaration to end the Korean War.
