The South Korean government and the ruling Democratic Party are going to propose a bill next month that would require public officials to declare all their assets as a way of fighting corruption amid the ongoing scandal over illegal land speculation.
That’s according to the acting chairman of the ruling party, Kim Tae-nyeon.
He met on Sunday with government officials and the presidential office, where he said that the government will make sure to confiscate all gains made from real estate speculation in violation of the law.
Officials at the state housing corporation LH are accused of using non-public information to buy land before it was slated for new development.
