Samsung heir Lee Jae-yong has decided to not to appeal last week’s court ruling over a bribery case, which sentenced him to two and a half years in prison.
The verdict was handed down by the Seoul High Court last week, sending Lee back to prison.
His lawyer said on Monday, the deadline for an appeal, that his client respects the ruling and will not take further legal action.
Now that Lee will not appeal, the court verdict will be finalized unless the prosecutors file an appeal before the end of the day.
As Lee has already served almost a year in prison, he will be released in July 2022,unless he’s granted a pardon or commutation.
