S. Korean gov’t joins CEPI to help future vaccine research

To support future vaccine research and development, South Korea has joined the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Initiative.
According to the foreign ministry, the government joined the organization via a virtual meeting on Tuesday.
It pledged to donate 3 million U.S. dollars each year until 2022.
The initiative has funded research projects to have vaccines prepared for diseases like MERS and SARS.
So far this year, South Korea has donated 21 million dollars to epidemic prevention programs.
