A South Korean court has started the process of selling off the local assets of Mitsubishi Heavy Industriesto compensate the Korean victims of Japan’s wartime forced labor.
A local court in Daejeon served the Japanese firm with a public notice on Monday, which took effect at midnight.
The court also delivered a separate public notice for the seizure of assets, which takes effect at the end of December.
The proceedings follow a South Korean Supreme Court decision in 2018, ordering the company to compensate the victims.
