Seoul’s Defense Minister to visit U.S. next week for SCM

South Korea’s new Defense Minister will visit the Pentagon next Wednesday to participate in the bilateral Security Consultative Meeting.
The planned visit will be Suh Wook’s first overseas trip as defense chief.
The allies are expected to discuss the security situation of the Korean peninsula, the conditions-based transfer of wartime operational control from Washington to Seoul and their combined defense posture.
Suh and his U.S. counterpart Mark Esper also held phone talks Thursday reaffirming the importance of strengthening the two countries’ alliance.
