As early as next year, students taking online classes at colleges in South Korea will also have the opportunity to attend online lectures at schools abroad.
This is part of a new set of measures drawn up by the Ministry of Education which focus on higher education in the digital era.
The ministry has decided to allow joint undergraduate and graduate programs between universities within South Korea as well as those based overseas.
This means that students will be able to obtain diplomas from multiple local universities at once as well as degrees from schools in foreign countries.
The ministry says it will release further details later this year.
