Pope Francis has expressed his respect for President Moon Jae-in and the South Korean people, and said he prays for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
That’s according to the Blue House, which said Sunday that it received the verbal message from the Pope through a letter from Archbishop Alfred Xuereb, the Holy See’s Apostolic Nuncio to South Korea, who went to the Vatican recently.
In the message, the Pope said he hopes the Korean government will continue to make efforts for reconciliation with North Korea.
In reply, President Moon thanked the Pope for his blessing, and said his government will not stop working, under any circumstances, for peace on the Peninsula.
