This afternoon, President Moon will take part in the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP, a free trade deal involving 15 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Those are the 10 ASEAN members plus South Korea, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand making RCEP the world’s biggest trading bloc, including about a third of the world’s population.
During talks before the signing, the Blue House says Moon will likely stress the importance of free trade and economic cooperation.
The deal is expected to revitalize South Korea’s trade and investment as well as diversify its export partners.
The signing comes after eight years of negotiations.
