Tourist attractions are becoming a virus hotbed.
In Sobaek-san mountain national park, in Danyang, Chungcheongbuk-do province, 18 workers at the parks northern office on Sunday had tested positive for Covid-19.
A college ice hockey team from Seoul also had 18 of their players test positive after playing a match and sharing a meal afterwards in Gangneung, a popular beach area in Gangwon-do Province.
The fourth wave had been centered on the capital until now, but is quickly branching out to all corners of the country, largely due to people traveling around in the summer holiday season.
Regions outside the capital accounted for more than 30 percent of local infections on Sunday, the highest proportion since the start of the fourth wave.
On Monday, that figure had inched up to almost 33 percent.
This comes as South Korea on Monday reported 1,2-hundred-52 new daily infections.
This is the most cases logged on a Sunday, a day when fewer tests are generally done than on weekdays.
One of testing centers in the capital area has said that their test load has increased by 40 to 50 percent recently, and with infections popping in malls, health centers, and saunas, people are lining around the block to get tested.
