The South Korean government is set to roll out the details of additional economic relief measures for vulnerable groups affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including the self-employed and freelancers.
This comes as the Cabinet approved the government’s plan to provide some 8.5 billion U.S. dollars as financial support for 5.8 million people.
Text messages will be sent out to freelancers who are eligible, starting Wednesday, with the relief handouts to begin next Monday.
Freelancers whose income decreased amid the pandemic will be eligible to receive up to 9-hundred dollars.
Similar messages will be sent next Monday to small business owners, who are eligible to receive up to 27-hundred dollars depending on the nature of their business.
